The Bredesen Protocol was developed through the research of Dr. Dale Bredesen in California, who identified dementia and Alzheimer’s not as whole diseases, but as a complex illnesses with up to 45, previously unrecognised, contributing factors.
The Bredesen Protocol in the United Kingdom
Charmaine Shepherd and Jean Dow have both completed the recognised training to practice the principles and functional testing outlined by Dr. Bredesen and known as The Bredesen Protocol. The team is supported by Jackie Forbes, a registered nutritional therapist, who is also a Bredesen trained practitioner and who works closely with Charmaine and Jean to support clients ongoing nutritional requirements to support a healthier way of life. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland they support clients across the UK.
Changing the world of Alzheimer’s
Dr. Dale Bredesen is internationally recognised as an expert in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. He graduated from Caltech, then earned his MD from Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He served as Chief Resident in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) before joining Nobel laureate Stanley Prusiner’s laboratory at UCSF as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow. He held faculty positions at UCSF, UCLA and the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Bredesen directed the Program on Aging at the Burnham Institute before coming to the Buck Institute in 1998 as its founding President and CEO. Learn more about the Bredesen Protocol in the US.
Not every person is impacted by every factor. The Bredesen Protocol was developed to identify the specific causes of cognitive decline in each patient, and create personalised programs to address these factors and reverse the effects of dementia and Alzheimer’s they cause.
